Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Bertrand will makes his Champions League debut, playing in front of Ashley Cole in a position on the left of midfield.

David Luiz and Gary Cahill both start so Jose Bosingwa is at right-back.

Didier Drogba leads the attack with Juan Mata behind and Salomon Kalou on the right.

Bayern Munich bring Diego Contento in at left-back and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, more usual a midfielder, into central defence.

Thomas Muller is the one change to the midfield that contested the semi-final against Real Madrid.

Chelsea will line-up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation:

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben spoke about his departure from Chelsea in the summer of 2007 in a television interview ahead of tonight's game.

The Dutchman also discussed how both teams are overdue a victory in the competition.

'I've never come back [to Chelsea] and that's always something I really regret,' Robben said. 'In football it all goes very quick and at the time there was no time to say goodbye.

'In one day it was the morning and we had a friendly game and in the evening I was gone. I never had the time to say goodbye to the fans and that is something I regret still, but they know how I think about Chelsea, about the club and also the fans, it's always been a really good relationship.'

On the prospect of lifting the European Cup today, he said:

'Of course I think it's my turn and I think Bayern's turn. I think not everybody will agree, especially the Chelsea fans. In the last nine years, six times they have been in the semi-finals and for them it is also time to win it.'

FRANK LAMPARD SAID "THINGS CAN CHANGE QUICKLY"

Frank Lampard says we can take heart from our turnaround in form during the second half of the season, but it will be in vain if we do not lift the European Cup on Saturday.

The midfielder has been one of the players reborn under the guidance of Roberto Di Matteo, playing a crucial role in our run to the Champions League Final, an achievement nobody would have expected when we were 3-1 down against Napoli back in February.

Since then we have defeated the Italians 4-1 at home, beaten Benfica home and away and come past Barcelona in one of the most memorable semi-final ties the competition has seen.

'We were struggling,' Lampard said, thinking back to Naples. 'You could see that, and you wouldn't have looked ahead and seen this, but things can change very quickly. We were very despondent afterwards and it took a big effort to turn things around. The home game was the major turning point in our season.

'With experience you know football changes in two seconds. That's the nature of the game. We always knew we had the quality here. That was what was disappointing about losing points in the league. We knew we were better than that and it took for everyone, staff, players, we all had to improve at that stage.

'Considering the season we've had I think we were pretty unfancied to get this far, on the way out against Napoli, then drawing Barcelona. When you don't see it coming the fact you are there is more enjoyable, and it's been a nice thought in the last couple of weeks.'

Despite the successes, particularly against Barça, Lampard knows that to come out on top in Munich is far more important than how we got there.

'We've enjoyed the feeling of beating the best, and we've enjoyed that but are clever enough to know that if you lose the Final people quickly forget the semis and other games,' said the 33-year-old.

'It can only be a team effort of the same level we've been putting in in the Champions League, with the spirit we showed in Barcelona. Hopefully we will have more possession but with that spirit we have the individuals to win the game. For Chelsea it would be the greatest achievement.
